Influencer Marketing News: Snapchat is Paying Spotlight Users $1 Million Per Day

As we previously mentioned in 2021 Influencer Marketing Trends, one of the key trends to watch this year would be the continued growth of short-form content. Snapchat’s Spotlight feature was created to compete with TikTok. In order to gain ground on their competitor, Snapchat came up with an interesting incentive.

Snapchat is rewarding $1 million a day to its top creators. On David Dobrik’s podcast, Views, he discussed his winnings “I got a notification yesterday that I won a little over a hundred thousand dollars.”

Dobrik brought 19-year-old TikTok star, Cam Casey, onto Views to discuss Snapchat Spotlight. Casey boasts over 7.2M followers on TikTok, so Spotlight is definitely within his comfort zone. Dobrik began by asking Casey how much he has made from Snapchat. Casey replied, “for the first four weeks, right now I’m at 2.7 million.”

It’s uncertain exactly how Snapchat divides up the earnings amongst top creators. However, Casey provided some insight. Casey states that Snapchat takes the top “hundred-ish” videos based on most viewed within a single day and divides the $1 million amongst those creators.

In the same way that anybody can go viral on TikTok, Spotlight wants to offer a fair shot as well. “We built Spotlight to be a place where anyone’s content can take center stage – without needing a public account, or an influencer following.

Since anybody’s Spotlight videos can go viral, everyone has an opportunity at the cash rewards. “Spotlight is designed to reward creativity in a fair and fun way.
