Filming and streaming Live content, means Influencers capturing moments in real time, as they unfold. Platforms like Twitch are seeing immense success with 56,200 live concurrent channels. Live content allows viewers to feel included as if they are a part of the event, alongside their favorite Influencer, creating an immersive experience for all. Along with the excitement of Live, there can be some pitfalls – namely, the margin of error. Even Influencers can not possibly control all elements, but there are some practices they can follow when producing Live content for brand marketing campaigns:

  • Broadcast Details: Share the broadcast details of when to tune in, what social platforms will be activated for the live stream, and any specific extra instructions. Sharing details about what time content will go live, including mentioning time zones, helps prepare viewers for when to tune in.

  • Set Expectations: Let your audience know exactly what you are going to be filming, and explain the situation as transparently and authentically as possible. This gives your fans an idea as to what type of experience they can view when they tune in to your Live content broadcast. For example, are you shooting content outdoors in the middle of January? Mention obvious factors such as “We might be shooting this indoors if the rain decides to join the party!”, creating a totally open playing field with viewers.

  • Relax, and Stay Natural: Influencers should treat Live content as a FaceTime call, or a fun catch up with their favorite group of friends. The key to great Live content is to allow an Influencer to enjoy themselves while reigning fans in to be a part of a unique and exciting branded, or unbranded, experience.

  • Engage, Engage, Engage: Use Live content to engage with viewers. Invite them to become a part of the comments section, using it as a forum. Influencers can learn a lot about their fans by chatting with them during this experience. Asking fans for what they would like to see more of is also a great way to lead the direction of your live content.

  • Sound On: Basic housekeeping reminders should be mentioned during the beginning of and during different points of Live streams to make sure anyone who joins the stream late is able to maximize their experience. Ensuring that your audience has their sound on, or if they know where to find the comments section, can help create a more valuable Live content experience for all.
