Spotify confirmed that on Monday, January 11th, “drivers license” had received 15.17M streams globally. This would break the record for most streams in a single day for any non-holiday song. However, this record wouldn’t last very long. The next day, “drivers license” would again break the same record with 17.01M streams. Spotify would also later state that “We’ve never seen anything like this, where you have a newer artist that just comes out of the gate in such a dominant way, and continues to grow.”
Rodrigo’s TikTok discussing the creation of “drivers license” has already garnered over 26 million views. Additionally, the song has become one of the most trending sounds on TikTok. There are now more than 300,000 videos using the sound after just one week.
