Its official: As we shared in January, beta access to Creator Profiles will be given to Influencers with substantial social followings in order to better understand their presence on the platform. Creator Profiles will provide Influencers with access to their Instagram social metrics. Here are 3 things you should know about Creator Profiles and Instagram updates:
Regulated Direct Messaging: Yup, there will be no sliding into anyone’s DMs. One update that will come along with Creator Profile access will be the Influencers ability to regulate who can and cannot contact them. With this feature, Influencers will have greater control not only over who can contact them, but how they can be reached. Whether the Influencer prefers direct messages or email, the ability to filter communication will be controlled within Creator Profiles. A benefit of this feature is the ability for Influencers to make themselves more available for brand and partner outreach.
Creator Profiles and Creator Studio: Facebook has added Instagram into its Creator Studio portal, creating an additional way for creators to access metrics. Though it is unclear if Creator Profiles will be directly linked to Instagram Creator Studio or not, the portal will allow access to baseline metrics such as follower count, follower age, and gender.
Creator Profile Limitations: One potential limitation that Creator Profiles will face is that currently, the feature will not be connected to the new Instagram API. This will prevent Influencers from using any 3rd party tools that may have helped them manage or organize content in the past. This may prove frustrating for Influencers who rely on tools to help schedule or publish content consistently.
