Finding a Unique POV in Your Affiliate Marketing

Does it feel like your affiliate marketing posts are stalled out and not getting any traction with your followers? This is a problem many Creators deal with and have to find creative ways to be heard over the noise. 

You should first troubleshoot the basics. Affiliate links need to be in the right place to get noticed and acted on. Beyond placing the link in your bio, you should do some additional promotion like banner ads, which can add some visual appeal to your website. You can also embed affiliate links in your video content like product reviews or tutorials. 

There are many different reasons a follower might click a link to buy a product and it’s your job to give them a good reason to act. What can you say about or do with the product that is different or more interesting than everybody else? 

Show off a feature nobody else is talking about

If other Creators are only focusing on one aspect of the product, look for something different to post about. If other Creators are only talking about the product for the way it looks, you can pivot to talking about how well it is constructed or design features that are unique to that product. 

Find something #trending about the product

Everyone loves to be on top of trends and will even pay to be a part of them. Find a way to tie your product into a current trend. If you are pitching beauty products, find out if they are cruelty-free. If fashion items are made of recycled materials that would also be something to highlight. Look for hashtags and keywords (“sustainable”, “eco-friendly”, “metamorphic design”)  that are trending and use them. 

Make it feel like news

Find an aspect of the product that will feel like breaking news to your followers. You could even reveal something new in your own life that creates a feeling of inclusivity among your followers. Maybe you are starting a new diet or fitness routine and will be using the product as a focal point. You can also use current events by looking at recent headlines and tie them into your product. For example, if inflation and rising costs are in the news, talk about your product in terms of how it will save you money over the long-run.

Show a use-case scenario

Show how you use the product in your daily life. If you are working with a clothing brand, create posts about how you use that product and how it adds value for you. How does it make you feel when you wear it? What kind of reactions do you get from others?

Shout-out for the brand

Brand loyalty is a real thing. Sometimes your followers will already be familiar with the brand so you should post about why you love the brand and what they stand for. 

Show a competitor’s product and compare

Comparison posts are useful to show how the product you are marketing stacks up against similar products and why you prefer this brand over the others. 

Use long-form tutorials or an in-depth product review

There may be a few followers who are hesitant to buy a product unless they feel like they have all the relevant information first. You might not be able to cover everything in a short-form social media post but you can use those posts to drive followers to your website or YouTube page where they can see tutorials or product reviews that cover more ground and show off more features of the product. 

As a Creator, you are constantly searching for new ways to reach your followers and give them content that is exciting and fresh. You should approach your affiliate marketing posts the same way.
